ELA or Error Level Analysis is a key technique to investigate document tampering. ELA works by evaluating the difference in compression across different parts of a digital image. Any image tampering results in a differential compression across the part of the image which has been tampered with this can area is flagged in an ELA image of the document.

Use this free tool to visualize the ELA image of your document. The parts of the document with a differing compression will appear in a darker shade than the rest of the document.
